PLN, Think Smart Grid team up to develop smart grid system in eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy) – State-owned utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) on Monday (18/03) signed a memorandum of understanding with a French company Think Smart Grid (TSG). Both parties agreed to develop smart micro grid in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara Province as well as on the Sulawesi Island.

The MoU was signed by PLN’s Director for Corporate Planning Syofvi Felienty and the Head of TSG Valerie. The cooperation will last for two years.

“We continue to develop renewable energy in order to achieve the government’s target of 23% (of national energy mix) in 2025. This MoU is one of the concrete efforts by PLN to develop the renewable energy,” Syofvi Felienty said.

Under the deal, PLN will be responsible to provide data, carry out field study, team and capacity building, including sending engineers to study smart grid system in France.

The study is funded by the French government. As for Sulawesi, PLN and TSG plan to develop Renewable Energy Grid Integration.

TSG is a non-profit orgaization, engaging in the development of smart grid development. Its members are including electricity industry players, academics, governemnt and electricity companies in Europe. (*)
