JAKARTA (RambuEnergy) – The state utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) continues to strengthen the high-voltage grid system in Sumatera in order to support the rising demand and electricity supply in the region.
Vice President Public Relation of PLN Dwi Suryo Abdulallah was quoted by Kontan daily as saying that PLN is currently developing high voltage grid system on the island with capacity of 275 kilo Volt (kV) in two phases.
The first phase the high voltage grid system will be stretched from South Sumatera to Lahat, Jambi, Riau, West Sumatera and then to Sarulla in North Sumatera along 2,933 kilometers. The project is expected to be completed in the next two months, with only 180 km remains to be connected.
In the second phase, PLN will stretch the grid system from South Sumatera to Lampung as well as from North Sumatera to Aceh. The Lahat-Lampung grid system will be connected along 882 kilometers.
At present, PLN is in the stage of clearing the land plot to build towers. (*)
