
JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – President Joko Widodo on Monday morning heads to Cilacap Regency with an Air Force plane CN 295 from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 08.00 a.m. Among his agenda will be inaugurating the commercial operation of coal-fired power plant (PLTU) Cilacap Expansion I.
PLTU Cilacap Expanion has an installed capacity of 660 MW, located in Karangkandri village, Slarang and Manganti, Cilacap, Central Java.
The President was accompanied by Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan, SOE Minister Rini Sumarno and PLN President Director Sofyan Basir.
PLTU Cilacap is built on 38.28 hectares of land. The power plant is developed jointly PLN’s unit PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali (PJB) and private sector partner PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P).
PLTU Cilacap adopts Super-Critical Boiler technology which burns low-calorie coal and equipped by electrostatistic prepcipitator and flue-gas desulfurization in order to reduce carbon emission.
The developers invested US$ 899 million to develop the power plant.
In addition, Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) in 2016 began the construction of coal-fired power plant (PLTU) Cilacap 2nd Phase Expansion with capacity of 1,000 MW (1×1000).
The power plant, part of the government’s ambitious 35,000 MW power plant program, is located in Kesugihan subdistrict, Cilacap Regency, Central Java province.
S2P is a joint venture between PT Sumberenergi Sakti Prima (SSP) which holds 51 percent shares and PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN, holding the remaining shares..
The coal-fired power plant is one among eight mega power plant projects being or to be developed by the country. (*)
