PLN to operate four power plants fully generated by biofuel

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – State-owned utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to commence the operation of small-scale power plants fully generated by biofuel this year.

Director for Corporate Planning of PLN Syofvi Felienty told reporters Wednesday (Feb. 20) the four power plants are currently utilizing diesel fuel to generate the power plants.

The four power plants are PLTD Kanaan Bontang with an installed capacity of 10 MW, PLTD Batakan, Balikpapan 40 MW, PLTD Supa, Pare-Pare in Sulawesi with a capacity of 62 MW, PLTMG Jayapura 10 MW and another one in Kanakan.

Felienty said the move is part of PLN’s efforts to replace diesel-fuel generated power plants with renewable energy resources, which environmentally friendly. (*)
