JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – Indonesian state-run oil and gas company PT Pertamina has officially become the operator of Jambi Merang Working Area (WA) with 100% participating interest.
Previously, the block was operated by Joint Operating Body (JOB) Pertamina-Talisman Jambi Merang, which is located in South Sumatera.
Pertamina operates the block through its subsidiary Pertamina Hulu Energi.
Deputy Chairman for Planning of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migas) Jaffee Suardin said that the Jambi Merang is expected to continue to play its part in supporting the national oil and gas production in a sustainable way.
In 2018, the Jambi Merang WA record condensate lifting of 4,191.87 barrels per day and gas of 88.49 MMSCFD.
The JOB Pertamina=Talisman’s contract to operate the block expires on Feb. 9, 2019. The government decided not to extend the contract, instead handed over the new PSC contract to Pertamina.
Previously, PHE held 50% working interest, Talisman Energy (now Repsol) 25% and the remaining interest was held by Pacific Oil & Gas (Jambi Merang) Ltd.
In May 2018, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry awarded Pertamina to become the new operator of the block.
