JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk has set a target that its gas power plant PLTGU Riau will start commercial operation in the first quarter 2021.
President Director of Medco Energi Hilmi Panigoro was quoted by Bisnis.com as saying that the project construction is now 23% completed. The company has started the preparation and site clearing activities.
“The commercial operation date (COD) target is set at first quarter 2021,” Panigoro said.
Medco is developing the power plant through PT Medco Ratch Power Riau (MRPR), a subsidiary of PT Medco Power Indonesia, with planned installed capacity of 275 MW.
The electricity produced by the power plant is expected to strengthen the electricity supply in the North Sumatera region.
Earlier, President Director of Medco Power Eka Satria said the power plant, with an estimated investment of US$290 million, will be built in Tenayan Industrial Zone, Pekanbaru city. The power plant is scheduled to be operational in 2021.
In November last year, MRPR has given the notice to proceed (NTP) to Lotte Engineering & Construction (LEC) as the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor of the project.
MRPR is a consortium of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Pcl and Medco Power Indonesia. The EPC contract was awarded on Aug. 20, 2018 and financial closing on Aug. 23, 2018. (*)
