PLN to install gas pipeline to support Tanjung Batu gas power plant

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – Indonesian state utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has decided to develop PK 52 gas pipeliine to support the gas power plant (PLTGU) Tanjung Batu, Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan.

The groundbreaking of the gas pipeline project is scheduled for May 2, 2018, that will be attended by Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arcandra Tahar.

The gas pipeline will be stretched from PK 52 Tanjung Batu to Muara Badak.

The development of gas pipeline by PLN was confirmed by General Manager of PLN for East Kalimantan-North Kalimantan region Reza Novianto Gustam, local media reports.

The electricity supply from the gas power plant will be delivered to meet electricity needs of households and industries in East and North Kalimantan provinces, including the Maloy Special Economic Zone.

The installation of the gas pipeline was supposed to be developed by Pertamina Gas, a subsidiary of Pertamina. However, the energy ministry than twisted the decision and awarded the project to PLN. The energy ministry argues that allowing PLN to develop the gas pipeline by itself will be more efficient for PLN as it will not need to pay toll fee to third party.

The gas pipeline will have an installed capacity of 2×20 MW and steam turbine 1×20 MW. (*)
