JAKARTA (RambuEnergy) – State-owned nickel and gold miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (IDX:ANTM), also known as Antam, has secured recommendation to export nickel ore and washed bauxite from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
Antam said it has been granted recommendation to export nickel ore with a content of 1.7% Ni, with a volume of 2.7 million wet metric tons (wmt) and bauxite with a content of 42% Al2)3 amounting to 840,000 wmt.
President Director of Antam Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo said the exports recommendation will help the ongoing production of its FeNi I ferronickel plant.
The exports quota will be used for this year’s exports.
In 2017, Antam was granted recommendation to exports 3.9 million wmt of nickel, comprised of 2.7 million wmt export quota received in March 2017 and 1.2 million received in October.
Currently, Antam is developing a Ferronickel Haltim Smelter Line 1 with a production capacity of 13,500 tons of nickel per anum (FeNi). The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
In addition, the company is developing a Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) in Mempawah, West Kalimantan in cooperation with PT Inalum, with designed capacity of 1 million tons of SGA per year. (*)
