Subsurface Study of Kepodang Field Completed Next Year

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy) – The subsurface study of the Kepodang Field within Muriah Block is projected to be completed next year, the operator of the block Petronas Carigali said. The results will determine whether the operator will go ahead with the further development stage or abandon the project.

The gas supply from the Kepodang gas field has been declining to mmscfd at present from 116 mmscfd previously, forcing the operator to conduct further study on the field’s subsurface.

The study is being undertaken by the Center for Research and Technology for Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (Lemigas).

Member of Lemigas researcher Andy Setyo was quoted by Investor Daily as saying that the study is still ongoing and expected to be completed next year.

The Kepodang field has been producing since 2015. The gas output has been delivered to gas power plant PLTGU Tambak Lorok in central Java. (*)
