Transformers producer Trafoindo Prima to raise funds through IPO

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – PT Trafoindo Prima Perkasa, manufacturer of medium voltage oil-immersed distribution transformers, has announced its plan to raise between Rp384.5-Rp480 billion from initial public offering (IPO).

The company disclosed that it plans to offer shares at price of Rp320-RP400 per share. It will use around 65% of the IPO proceeds to strengthen working capital as well as the expansion of its subsidiary PT Powerindo Prima Perkasa, it said  in an investor presentation.

Trafoindo operates four units of plants located in Jatiuwung, Tangerang and Banten. The company, established by businessman Maximillian Widjaja recorded sales of Rp1.34 trillion in 2016, up from Rp1.13 trillion in 2015.

The company is likely to benefit from the Joko Widodo government’s program to develop 35 GW of power plant capacity, which in return boost the demand for distribution transformers.

Trafoindo Prima Perkasa was established in 1982 with a focus on manufacturing of medium voltage oil-immersed distribution transformers.

Years later, the company expanded and diversified its manufacturing scopes and activities to cover other medium voltage electrical apparatus.

Trafoindo is now one of the largest manufacturers of transformers in Indonesia. The company’s products have been accredited the ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001: 2004, OHSAS 18001:1999, certifications by SAI Global Registered Quality in 2003.

At present, Trafoindo’s manufactured items incude:

  • Medium voltage oil-immersed distribution transformers
  • Medium voltage dry cast resin distribution transformers
  • High voltage power transformers
  • Medium voltage instrument transformers (indoor and outdoor type current and potential transformers)
  • Special transformers (scott transformers, auto transformers, and so on). (*)
