JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) — PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk (IDX:SMART), a palm oil unit of the Sinar Mas Group, expects its biodiesel plant in Marunda, Bekasi to start operating in the second quarter this year, a company official said.
The company is currently constructing a biodiesel plant with capacity of 300,000 tons of biodiesel per annum. The plant was originally planned to be completed in December 2016.
The company is currently commissioning the plant and expects the plant to kick off operation in the next three to four months, said the company’s director Agus Purnomo.
The Marunda biodiesel plant is the second plant built by the company since 2015. The first biodiesel plant began operating last year with installed capacity of 300,000 tons per annum.
The company spent around USD30-USD40 to construct the biodiesel plant, which is located adjacent to its existing crude palm oil (CPO) mill.
As of end September, the company produced 1,790 million tons of fresh fruit bunch (FFB), down 20% from the same period a year earlier, while CPO production reached 420,160 tons. Its revenues stood at Rp21 trillion in the nine month period, lower than the same period in previous year.
