SINGAPORE (RambuEnergy.com) – HIMA, a safety specialist of Germany, has set up its hub in Singapore, from which the company will coordinate its activities in the Asia Pacific region. The move is also aimed to tap growing industrial safety business in the region.

“Singapore is the perfect location for coordinating activities in the region. From here we are well positioned to serve clients and develop new business in Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and across Southeast Asia,” says Friedhelm Best, HIMA’s Vice President Asia Pacific at a press conference last week.

HIMA has worked with leading companies across Asia Pacific since the early 1990s to help them operate their plants safely. The safety specialist has offices in Perth, Brisbane, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Tokyo and works with a network of partners in other countries in the region. In response to soaring demand, HIMA now opens a new Regional Headquarters in Singapore.

The new name “HIMA Asia Pacific” reflects the safety specialist’s strategy to unify its brand around the world and deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

“Our goal is to build and maintain a strong global brand image that customers recognize and trust for leading-edge safety expertise, adds Steffen Philipp, Managing Partner of the HIMA Group.

One of HIMA’s most significant ongoing assignments in Asia Pacific is Ichthys, the massive Australian LNG project operated by INPEX. HIMA is supplying the project’s safety systems.

“Most day-to-day work with fellow project suppliers takes place in Singapore. That’s also where function tests have been conducted on more than 1,200 cabinets supplied by the basic process control system (BPCS) supplier, HIMA and project partners,” states Friedhelm. HIMA offices in Singapore, China (Shanghai), South Korea (Geoje), Australia (Perth), Dubai (UAE) and Germany (Bruehl) have collaborated closely on the project.

The HIMA Group claimed itself as the world’s leading independent provider of solutions for safety-critical applications. With more than 35,000 installed systems and TÜV-certified hardware and software, the group qualifies as the safety automation industry’s technology leader.

Its products have been used for over 45 years by the world’s largest oil, gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and energy-producing companies. They have relied on HIMA products, services and consulting to provide uninterrupted plant operations and protection for people and the environment.

HIMA said its products and services have also been used to increased safety and profitability in the rail industry, logistics and machine operations. A family-owned safety specialist, HIMA operates from over 50 locations worldwide, has a workforce of approximately 850 employees and in fiscal year 2014 generated sales of €121 million. (*)
