JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – State owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (IDX:PGAS) and state owned construction firm PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (IDX:WIKA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop gas power plant (PLTG) with capacity of 50 MW to support the electricity needs of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at Cengkareng, Tangerang.
At present, the electricity needs of the airport reaches around 60 MW, which currently supplied from state electricity company PT PLN.
President Director of AP II Budi Karya Sumadi said the electricity needs could increase to 100 MW once the newly build Terminal 3 starts operating in the coming months. He said the company can save up to Rp160 billion by using owned gas power plant.
In the first phase, the three parties will develop 50 MW of gas power plant with investment of Round Rp1 trillion. Its capacity will be gradually increased to 160 MW.
The construction of the PLTG is scheduled to kick off in the next three months and expected to be completed in 2017.
Under the MoU, the three parties will set up a JV, in which PGN will act as gas supplier. (*)
