Total Gas & Power joins Pertamina-led consortium in PLTGU Jawa I power plant tender

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – The competition in a tender for the development of gas power plant PLTGU Jawa I with capacity of 2×800 MW (1,600 MW) heats up.

On Wednesday, Vice President Corporate Communication of Pertamina Wianda Pusponegoro revealed that Total Gas & Power Ltd has joined the Pertamina-led consortium for the tender.  Total Gas & Power is a business energy provider in the UK. A wholly owned subsidiary of French Oil Supermajor Total SA.

Pertamina has earlier teamed up with Marubeni of Japan, a global IPP player as well as General Electric which will provide the CCGT power plant technology, namely 9HA. The technology has proven to have improved efficiency of above 61 percent.

The other tender participants of PLTGU Jawa I are including PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) which teamed up with Mitsui & Co. Ltd of Japan.

PLTGU Jawa I is part of the power plants program to support the government’s drive to build 35,000 MW capacity of power plants in the next five years or so. (*)
