Louis Dreyfus inaugurates its first biodiesel plant in Lampung

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a Switzerland company has inaugurated its first biodiesel plant in Lampung, Sumatera

The plant is also the first for LDC in Asia Pacific and the fifth in the world. The company invested US$30 million to develop the plant.

President Director of LDC Indonesia Imran Nasrullah said the plant is located adjacent to its existing palm oil mill in Lampung, which has already been in operation since 2014. The biodiesel plant has annual capacity of 420,000 tons of Palm Methyl Ester (PME) and 50,000 tons of glycerin.

He noted the operation of the biodiesel plant also shows the company’s commitment to support the Joko Widodo government’s drive to develop renewable energy.

The government has also implemented a policy to increase the biodiesel content in the fuel mixed, sold and distributed by Pertamina. (*)
