JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – Geothermal energy powre plant (PLTP) Ulubelu is scheduled to add 110 megawatt (MW) of capacity next year. The geothermal plant, located in Lampung, Sumatera is developed and owned y Pertamnia Geothermal Energy (PGE).
Currently, PLTP Ulebelu Unit 1 and Unit 2 generate power capacity of 110 MW.
PLTP Ulubelu Unit 3 is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter this year, adding 55 MW capacity and Unit 4 is scheduled to be completed in 2017 with additional capacity of 55 MW.
Currently, PLTP Ulubelu supplied 12.8 percent of electricity consumption in Lampung. PGE President Director Irfan Zainuddin expects once the third and fourth unit of the geothermal plant completed, PLTP Ulubelu would supply around 25 percent of electricity consumption in Lampung.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the geothermal plant is developed by a consortium of Sumitomo-Rekayasa Industri. The drilling, on the other hand, is carried out by Pertamina Drilling Services Indoensia (PDSI), a subsidiary of Pertamina. (*)
