JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – President Joko Widodo on Friday afternoon (Nov 6) visited a shipyard owned by PT Daya Radar Utama in Lampung, one of emerging private vessel producer in the country.
The Joko Widodo government recently issued incentives in a move to stimulate the growth of shipyard and shipbuilding industry in the country, including freeing import duties on components used to build a vessel.
During the visit, the President witnessed the process of shipbuilding and was given a briefing about how to build a vessel from scratch until final product. The visit was welcome with enthusiasm by the workers at the shipyard. He was accompanied by State Enterprise Minister Rini Soemarno and the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said.
Among the company’s regular customers the Defense Ministry and state owned energy company PT Pertamina. Recently, Daya Radar Utama delivered a warship called, KRI Teluk Bintui-520, a landing shift-tank (LST), which is designed that can landed on shoreline to land tanks, in particular the Leopard tanks.
