Pupuk Indonesia inaugurates its largest ammonia vessel

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – State owned fertilizer company PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has inaugurated the operation its largest ammonia vessel called MT Pupuk Indonesia at Pupuk Kaltim Ammonia jetty in Bontang, East Kalimantan.

“This is the largest ammonia vessel owned by PT Pupuk Indonesia Logistic that will be used to support the distribution of ammonia to and from Pupuk Indonesia subsidiaries, such as PT Pupuk Kaltim, PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Pupuk Sriwidjadja,and PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda,” said President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia Logistic (Pilog) Ahmadi Hasan in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The inauguration of MT Pupuk Indonesia vessel was officiated by the company’s President Commissioner Muhammad Alfan and President Director of Pilog, Ahmadi Hasan in Bontang.

Pupuk Indonesia Logistic is a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia, engaging in logistic and sea transportation.

MT Pupuk Indonesia is categorized as gas carrier with capacity of 23,256 dead weight tons (DWT) that could transport ammonia as much as 13,835 MT.

Ammonia is raw materials used to produce fertilizers. The ammonia vessel is the second ammonia vessel owned by Pupuk Indonesia after Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II vessel. Currently, Pilog operates nine vessels, seven of which are bulk vessels to transport fertilizers and 2 ammonia tanker vessels.

Ahmadi Hasan said the MT Pupuk Indonesia vessel is used to improve distribution of ammonia among Pupuk Indonesia subsidiaries. The new vessel is larger than previous one owned by the company and will help make logistic transportation more efficient. (*)
