Grand Kartech enters biogas business

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – PT Grand Kartech Tbk, an engineering and manufacturing equipment producer is entering biogas business in order to tap growing needs of renewable energy in the country. Grand Kartech said it will start selling biogas from second semester this year.

Grand Karech will utilize waste products from manufacturer or industries in Karawang, West Java and process the wastes into biogas. The company develops biogas as well as at the same time optimizes its machines, said Johanes Budi, finance director of the company told reporters on Wednesday.

The company has installed a biogas machine in late 2014 with capacity of 414 tons of biogas per annum. The company used the proceeds of the initial public offering (IPO) in 2013 to purchase the biogas machine.

Budi said the company utilizes organic wastes such as palm oil mill effluent (POME), animal waste and industrial foods waste. The biogas product is now entering commissioning phase. Budi said Gran Kartech’s biogas or biofuel can be used to generate power plants or other needs.

The company’s management said the biogas product is environmentally friendly and could be a product catalyst in the future and will help increase the company’s revenues. In 2014, the company posted revenues of Rp286.05 billion, up Rp7.08 billion from previous year. The company targets revenues to increase to Rp309 billion. In the first half 2015, the company expects to book Rp130 billion in sales. (*)
