JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – Chevron has launched a pre-qualification to lease one unit of Anchor Handling Towing & Supply (AHTS) vessel with capacity of 4,800 BHP to support the company’s drilling and production activities in offshore East Kalimantan.

The tasks will include towing and supply, fire-fighting and other offshore activities. The vessel owner should have permit from the Sea Transportation Department of the Indonesian Transportation Ministry.

The company sets registration period on March 9-11, 2015. The vessel should have a local content of minimum of 70 percent.

Chevron Indonesia Company is currently developing a mega offshore project called Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) project in the Makassar Strait. The company has earlier asked for the postponement of the project as it wants revision of the contract because of change in the economic value of the project.

Based on earlier estimate the IDD project was to produce 1,270 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) from four blocks — Ganal, Rapak, Makassar Strait, and Muara Bakau with five fields — Bangka, Gehem, Gendalo, Maha and Gandang fields.

The blocks of Ganal, Rapak, and Makassar Strait are operated by Chevron, and the Muara Bakau block by Eni Spa. (*)
