JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), said it has started delivering gas to gas power plant PLTGU Belawan, owned by state electricity company PLN, in North Sumatera from its newly operated Arun LNG Regasification and Receiving Terminal.
The gas from the facility was for the first time flowing on March 18 via Arun-Belawan pipeline, owned by Pertagas. So far, PLN absorbed 71 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas to generate the power plant.
The operation of the power plant is expected to ease power shortage problem in North Sumatera region, said Teuku Khaidir, president director of Perta Arun Gas.
The Arun LNG regasification and receiving terminal was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on March 9, 2015. The LNG from Arun LNG receiving terminal was taken from Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua. (*)
