JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – PT Indoferro, a nickle producing company, said it plans to raise nickel pig iron (NPI) this year to 160,000 tons from 140,000 tons in 2014.
Radius Suhendra, president director of Indoferro, was quoted by Kontan as saying that the company is looking to raise production by 10-15 percent this year.
The average price of pure nickel last year was at US$15,000 per ton or equal to US$750 per ton for NPI with Ni level of 5 percent. “We hope the price of nickel this year would rise again, which should be followed up by the price of NPI,” he said.
Indoferro oeprates a smelter plant in Cilegon, Banten province. The smelter began operating in 2012 with production capacity of 250,000 tons per year. Indoferro is a subsidiary of Growth Steel Group. (*)
