Indonesia govt to begin open selection process for oil and gas director general post

JAKARTA (Rambu Energy) – Secretary General of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) Teguh Pamudji said the ministry will soon begin the open selection process of the Director General for Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) next week.

Currently, the energy ministry is preparing technical aspects and administrative procedures of the open selection process. The ministry is also setting up a seletion team for the purpose. The team will comprise of government officials and industry players.

“The open selection process of Dirjen Migas will begin next week. Hopefully the selection process will be completed in February 2015,” Teguh was quoted by Tempo as saying.

The open selection process is the first time adopted by the energy ministry. The open selection process is also being applied to appoint new Director General for Taxation at the Finance Ministry. The open selection process is aimed to improve transparency.

Sudirman Said, the energy minister, said earlier that he hopes to finalize the open selection process as quick as possible as the ministry has huge tasks on hand including stimulating investment in oil and gas industry and boosting oil and gas production. (*)
