JAKARTA (Rambu Energy) – National gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) and PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PT BJB), a subsidiary of state electricity firm PT PLN, on Monday (Oct 27) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the utilization of natural gas by PT BJB power plants.
The MoU was signed by PGN’s Director Jobi Triananda Hasjim and Director for Development and Commercial PT PJB Muljo Adji A.G.
“PGN in cooperation with PT PJB will continue the efforts to support the government’s program to accelerate the fuel-to-gas conversion by PT PJB power plants,” said Jobi Triananda after signing the agreement.
Based on the MoU, PGN will supply the gas needs of the PT PJB power plants. In addition, PGN will develop gas infrastructure and other supporting facilities to smoothen the delivery of gas to PT PJB power plants.
“We are cooperating in broader areas which are related with the business of subsidiaries of the two companies,” said Jobi.
PGN however gave no further details of the MoU, including concrete near term programs.
Earlier, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry estimated that the average demand for natural gas in Indonesia is estimated to reach an average of 6 percent per year for 2015-2020 period, stimulated by seady economic growth. (*)
