Lundin’s drilling of Gobi-1 well in Gurita block making good progress

JAKARTA (Rambu Energy) – Lundin Gurita B.V, the operator of Gurita Production Sharing Contractor (PSC) has made good progress on its drilling of the Gobi-1 exploration well in the block.

Nido Petroleum, the non-operator partner of Lundin Gurita B.V., said that the drilling of the well by the block’s operator has reached the 9 5/8” casing point at 1,085 meters measured depth.

The operator currently prepares to run the 9 5/8” casing.

The Gobi-1 is a wildcat oil exploration well, which is designed to test the hydrocarbon potential of oligocene and early miocene stacked fluvial sandstone reservoirs in a 3-way fault dependent structure in the Jemaja Basin.

The Gurita block is located adjacent to a number of major oil and gas field such as the Belida field to the north-east of the Gurita block, which had about 350 million barrels of oil reserves and peak production of 150,000 bopd. (*)
