Joko Widodo takes oath as new President of Indonesia

JAKARTA (Rambu Energy) – Joko Widodo takes oath as the seventh President of Republic Indonesia before members of the People’s Consultative Assembly along with his Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

“We are entering a historic moment, the succession of President, from Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Joko Widodo,” MPR speaker Zulkifli Hasan said.

“I swear, for the sake of Allah, will fulfill the obligation as President to make for the best and fairest interest of the people,” Jokowi said.

The speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan said the oath means that Joko Widodo is now officially become the President of Indonesia, who has won the Presidential election.

In his first speech as President Indonesia, Joko Widodo calls on all Indonesians to stay united and work hard to attain the goals of the nation as stated under the Constitution. He also stressed the focus of his new government to develop the maritime sector. “Our future lies in the ocean,” he said. (*)
